Dr. Anderson DDS, MS
Dr. Anderson’s path towards pediatric dentistry includes various health care related fields, including mental health counseling, veterinary practice management, and service and advocacy for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. Dr. Anderson graduated from Oregon State University with honors in psychology and business and went on to receive his masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College. Despite the meaningfulness of helping those living with mental health issues, Dr. Anderson wanted to explore career paths in business and had a progressively successful career with Banfield, The Pet Hospital in multiple leadership and management roles. Ultimately, Dr. Anderson served as a regional director of operations overseeing 23 veterinary practices throughout Colorado. Dr. Anderson missed being directly involved in a helping profession, and made the choice to pursue dentistry.
Dr. Anderson completed his collegiate dental pre-requisites at the University of Colorado in 2009 and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2014.
It was during Dr. Anderson’s third year of dental school when he realized his desire to specialize in the care of children. The birth of his own son the year before entering dental school and many meaningful experiences serving and advocating for individuals with special health care needs, significantly influenced his desire to work closely with children and their families. Dr. Anderson completed his Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry residency with NYU Lutheran Medical Center in San Diego in 2016. Dr. Anderson’s residency was housed within San Ysidro Health Center and Rady Children’s Hospital where he partnered with multidisciplinary teams in the areas of cleft lip and palate, craniofacial syndromes, Down Syndrome, and Hematology/Oncology to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
When not helping children and families, Dr. Anderson and his family enjoy outdoor sports and recreation activities such as biking, hiking, camping, backpacking, floating/canoeing, fishing, and ATVing.
